visited Goron City. There he met a small but very confident

Darunia's son told Link that Darunia had gone to the
Fire Temple, where an evil dragon waited. He also revealed
a secret shortcut to the Fire Temple in Darunia's room.Next: Head to the Fire Temple.
Link arrived in Death Mountain Crater. Despite the
scorching heat that threatened to incinerate him, he
entered the Fire Temple.Next: Explore the Fire Temple.
Link arrived at the Fire Temple and found Darunia, but
Darunia left to face the evil dragon Volvagia. He entrusted
Link with the task of rescuing the captive Gorons.Next: Save the captive Gorons in the Fire Temple.

Seven years after his last visit, Link traveled to Goron City and found it empty save for Darunia's son. He told Link that Darunia had gone to the Fire Temple. The evil dragon Volvagia waited there. Link rescued captive Gorons on his way through the Fire Temple. He didn't catch up with Darunia afterward, but he did manage to defeat Volvagia. He found Darunia, who had awakened as the Sage of Fire, in the Chamber of Sages. There, Darunia awarded Link the Fire Medallion, saying, "We're brothers, Link! Brothers forever, and don't you forget it!"
